A woman who survived the mass shooting at a Virginia Walmart that killed six people filed a $50 million lawsuit against the retailer on Tuesday, seeking compensatory damages.

Donya Prioleau, a Walmart employee, accused Walmart of "negligent hiring and retention" concerning the shooter Andre Bing, 31, a supervisor at the store.

Prioleau claims Walmart employed Bing without investigating his history and failed to take action when "when he had known propensities for violence, threats, and strange behavior, among other things," according to the complaint.

The employee claims Bing "frequently made bizarre and inappropriate comments" to fellow employees, who reported them to management. The plaintiff herself complained about Bing’s “bullying, threatening, and harassing” behavior months before the shooting.

Bing also had a "long-standing reputation for being a cruel manager" and "had been disciplined in the past," the suit continues.

In one of the incidents, Bring allegedly told his co-workers that he had run over a turtle with a lawnmower "just to see its [guts] spray out."

Walmart said that it is reviewing the complaint and will respond appropriately.

"The entire Walmart family is heartbroken by the loss of the valued members of our team," a spokesperson for the company said. "Our deepest sympathies go out to our associates and everyone impacted, including those who were injured. We are focused on supporting all our associates with significant resources, including counseling."

Prioleau was at the Walmart at the time of the shooting. She witnessed Bing kill her colleagues, and injured herself while trying to escape. The lawsuit claims that the survivor has experienced post-traumatic stress disorder following the shooting.

Bing allegedly left a note on his phone explaining his reasoning behind the massacre. He states that he was mocked by his workers and influenced by Satan to buy the 9mm handgun he used in the shooting. It is thought that Bing specifically targeted some of his coworkers during the shooting.
