A Jefferson County, Colorado judge has rescheduled the hearing of Cuban truck driver Rogel Aguilera-Mederos.
Judge A. Bruce Jones ruled that a resentencing hearing will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2022.
During the hearing, the judge will review the 110-year prison sentence against Aguilera-Mederos, who was involved in a tragic accident on a Colorado highway that killed four people and injured six others.
During a hearing on Monday morning, the judge said he was very concerned about "turning this into a circus and it won't be a circus, as far as I'm concerned."
Judge Jones described the new sentence as “disturbing.” He also claimed that he would not allow the defense to present new pleadings, but he would hear from the affected victimsa if they wanted to make a statement
Jones also stated that he will hold the new hearing in person, although he would also allow it to be transmitted online so that it can be viewed by those who wish to do so.
