U.S. Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-Fla.) said on Tuesday that the Biden Administration’s new economic agenda is promoting socialism, higher taxes, debt and inflation.

Last week, the House of Representatives passed President Biden’s Build Back Better Act. The bill plans to spend $1.75 trillion on so-called clean energy initiatives, child care, extended tax credits, paid family leave and hearing aids for Medicare beneficiaries.

In a Facebook post, Salazar criticizes the bill claiming it will “increase taxes to small businesses… Increase national debt by billions and billions of dollars. Inflation, which is at its highest levels in 30 years will keep rising.”

“What does this mean?” continues Salazar. “The cost of gas, food, clothes, electronics, rent and entertainment will go up.”

Proponents of the bill claim the measures do not add any extra debt to the United States. “Combined with savings from repealing the Trump Administration’s rebate rule, the plan is fully paid for by asking more from the very largest corporations and the wealthiest Americans,” explains the bill.

“Nothing is free,” said Salazar. “The government does not produce anything. It is the citizens who produce and the government takes it away by taxes… And taxes are going up.”

“The more the government grows, the less economic growth we have,” concludes Salazar. “This is socialism.”
