NBC on Thursday evening sought to schedule Alaska GOP Rep. Don Young to appear on the network's "Meet the Press NOW" program on Friday, evidently not realizing that the Republican gave up the ghost in March.
Young's former communications director, Zack Brown, alerted the network to its error via Twitter, saying "I don't think Congressman Young's schedule will allow him to be on Meet the Press with you tomorrow, but I'll circle back if that changes. Thanks for reaching out!"
In a follow up Tweet, Brown shared his direct email reply to the network in which he notified them that Young had passed on and thanked them for the tribute article they published upon his death.
Young died on March 18, 2022, at the age of 88 on a flight from Los Angeles to Seattle while returning home to Alaska. He entered Congress in a 1973 special election and served for 25 terms, making him the longest-serving member of Congress at the time of his passing. He was seeking reelection this year.
