She was one of the most sought people to talk to after the massacre at the elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, had been perpetrated by young Salvador Ramos. Devastated by grief, his mother, Adriana Martinez, is finally speaking out.

Deeply affected, the killer's mother told the press about her son, defended him from attacks, and made a plea to the world.

"I don't have words to say because I don't know what he was thinking. He had his reasons for doing what he did," she expressed in tears to Paco Santana, a reporter for Televisa's Noticiero.

In addition, she asked "not to be judged" and apologized on his behalf to the deceased children and the families who suffered such a terrible loss. "I no longer want the innocent children who died to forgive me. Forgive my son. I know he has his reasons," she insisted.

With tears in her eyes, she described how Salvador acted in his day-to-day life at home and around his people. A description that made it almost unexpected and impossible to believe that he could have a reaction of such proportions.

"He was very quiet, very quiet. He was very pitiful. He didn't bother anyone. He didn't hurt anyone," he said of the young man's personality. She told ABC News that even though "he could be aggressive" if he lost his mind, "he was not a monster."

In the midst of all this commotion, it has also come to light that the young man had announced on Facebook that he was going to shoot up a school. In a press conference, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said that Salvador published a series of posts on the social network. First stating: "I'm going to shoot my grandmother," and then continuing with: "I shot my grandmother."

There was one last message, he noted, which he wrote about 15 minutes before the event and in which he announced his bloody plan: "I'm going to shoot up an elementary school."

The 18-year-old's killing spree has left 21 fatalities, 19 children and two female teachers.
