A maskless AOC sips cocktails in Miami Beach as COVID-19 infections in NYC skyrocket

AOC spotted sipping cocktails in Miami without mask as COVID-19 infections in NYC skyrocket

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was apparently seen dining in Miami Beach, Fla., on Thursday – the same day that New York City, and her congressional district, reported record high number of COVID-19 cases, National Review reported.

As the congresswoman enjoyed Miami’s 80-degree weather and an icy drink without a mask, a cold, dark New York City reported almost 44,000 new cases of COVID-19 – a record high for the city which is once again becoming a coronavirus hot-spot.

Photos on Twitter show a smiling AOC holding up a cocktail in one and casually checking her phone in another.

But the outing wasn’t characteristic of the lawmaker who is always quick to promote strict COVID-19 restrictions and warn others to avoid travel.

Just last year, AOC took to Twitter to warn potential travelers that, “A negative COVID test does not clear one for safe travel. You can be asymptomatic & test positive shortly after. You can get it en route.”

“Don’t spread COVID to parents, loved ones, workers. Stay in,” she added.

As vaccinated Americans continue to get infected by the Omicron variant, even increased vaccination rates don’t seem to be a good excuse for travel at this time – at least not for a true believer in preventative measures.

Back in February, the representative blasted Sen. Ted Cruz for taking a family trip to Cancun, Mexico, after a winter disaster left millions of Texans without power or water.

“If Sen. Cruz had resigned back in January after helping gin up a violent insurrection that killed several people, he could have taken his vacation in peace,” she tweeted at the time. “Texans should continue to demand his resignation.”

After Cruz defended himself against her attacks at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Florida, she wrote, “I don’t care what Cruz said at CPAC, but I do care that it appears Texas was just a layover stop for him between Cancun and Orlando to drop a pack of water into someone’s trunk and abandon his constituents again as they get slammed with $16,000 electrical bills.”

Two months later, AOC was still dwelling on Cruz’s family trip and during a Twitter exchange responded to the Texas senator saying, “Ted, this is pretty rich coming from someone who fled their own home (and responsibilities) during an environmental crisis to cross the border and seek refuge in Mexico.”
