JTN: Former top spy implicates Blinken in Hunter Biden laptop letter aimed at swaying 2020 election

According to a letter released by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, former acting CIA director Michael J. Morell told Congress he helped organize the now-infamous letter from 51 security officials in October 2020 that inaccurately portrayed Hunter Biden's laptop as Russian disinformation, according to a breathtaking new report publishing by Just the News founder and investigative journalist John Solomon.

The letter generated significant public attention and many analysts have argued it helped deflect criticism of Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings during Joe Biden's presidential campaign,

Morell stated that he did so at the direction of current Secretary of State Antony Blinken and received a call from the Biden campaign thanking him when Joe Biden used the letter and its false implication to blunt criticism of Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings, according to a transcript of an interview with the House Judiciary government weaponization subcommittee.

Morell also reportedly said he became involved with the letter at Blinken's behest, and he subsequently received a call from the Biden campaign expressing gratitude when the former vice president used the letter  to mitigate scrutiny of Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings. The transcript revealed that Morell did not have any intention of writing the statement and that his actions were prompted by Blinken's call.

The admission by Morell is significant because it provides evidence that the letter was not an organic intelligence community initiative but instead a political tactic originating from Blinken and the Biden campaign. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan has called for Blinken to respond to a series of questions about Morell's testimony.

As lawmakers assessed the gravity of the situation, Jordan issued a letter requesting that Blinken responds to several questions regarding Morell's compelling testimony. The letter also included significant excerpts from Morell's testimony.

After retiring as deputy CIA director following a long and distinguished career and serving as its acting chief, Morell was being considered for the role of CIA director in the fall of 2020 when he became involved in the letter. However, he ultimately did not receive the job.

Morell's recollection of the call was included in Jordan's letter.

According to Morell, "After the debate — I think it was after the debate — in fact, I'm pretty sure it was after the debate — I got a phone call from Jeremy Bash, who I work with at Beacon and who is active politically. And Jeremy said: Do you have a minute to talk to Steve Ricchetti? I said: Of course. He was the head of the Biden campaign at the time. And Jeremy got him on the line, and Steve thanked me for putting the statement out. And that was the extent of the conversation."

Morell also testified that the Biden campaign team coordinated to release the statement on the laptop to a specific reporter at the Washington Post and admitted that he got involved to help give Biden a leg up on Trump during the debates.

"There were two intents," he said. "One intent was to share our concern with the American people that the Russians were playing on this issue; and, two, it was [to] help Vice President." When asked why he wanted to help Biden, he replied, "because I wanted him to win the election."

According to his testimony, he acknowledged that he became involved in the effort to release the statement on the laptop to a particular journalist at the Washington Post and confirmed that the Biden campaign team coordinated this effort. Additionally, he revealed that his involvement was aimed at providing an advantage to Biden over Trump during the debates.

He explained that there were two motivations behind his actions. The first was to alert the American people to Russian interference in the issue, and the second was to support Vice President Biden. When asked about his desire to assist Biden, he responded that it was because he wanted him to emerge victorious in the election.

Jordan's letter to Blinken, citing the testimony provided, suggests that the Biden campaign was heavily involved in the creation of the public statement, which appears to have contributed to the suppression of the Hunter Biden story. Consequently, it may have prevented American citizens from making informed decisions during the 2020 presidential election.

The letter also notes that Jordan believes that Blinken may possess material that could advance the oversight process and inform potential legislative reforms. As a result, the letter requests that Blinken provide any relevant information and records that he has in his personal possession.

This request may reflect an attempt to uncover additional information about the Biden campaign's involvement in the public statement, as well as any possible wrongdoing or improprieties.

The Committee set a deadline of May 4, 2023, for Blinken to submit the requested items. Additionally, the Committee made it clear that the items should come from Blinken's personal materials since he was not serving as Secretary of State at the time of the events in question.

The letter emphasized that, as the events occurred before Blinken's nomination and confirmation as Secretary of State, the Committee requested his cooperation in his personal capacity rather than his official capacity. The letter concluded by reiterating the importance of cooperation and the need for the requested materials to be submitted in a timely manner.
