Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday will meet online with leaders of 15 Caribbean nations to continue her work despite testing positive for Covid-19 this week, reported Reuters.

Harris and the Caribbean leaders plan to discuss the economic recovery of the region after the Covid-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, and further security efforts in the area, a senior administration official said.

The countries attending the meeting include Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, and Trinidad and Tobago. Harris had previously met with the leaders from Jamaica and Barbados at the White House.

On April 26, Harris tested positive for Covid-19 after traveling to California. “She has not been a close contact to the President or First Lady due to their respective recent travel schedules. She will follow CDC guidelines and the advice of her physicians. The Vice President will return to the White House when she tests negative,” said Kristen Allen, the vice president’s press secretary, in a statement.

On Thursday, the White House announced that Harris was asymptomatic but had been prescribed with the antiviral drug Paxlovid. Harris, 57, is fully vaccinates and has received two booster shots.
