Facebook’s parent company, Meta, signed a lease for space in Austin, Texas, making it the latest company to move a significant part of their operation from Silicon Valley to Texas.

Meta’s new offices will be in Austin’s soon-to-be largest skyscraper in downtown Austin. The company’s new offices will amount to 589,000 square feet across 33 floors of the 66-floor tower. The building is expected to be completed in 2023.

“The lease is the largest ever in Downtown Austin and larger than the entire Frost Bank Tower in terms of square feet,” KVUE reported.

Meta is expected to expand its operations in Austin, hiring around 400 employees in the area, said the company.

“We first came to Austin over 10 years ago with just seven employees, now over 2,000 of us are proud to call Austin home,” said Katherine Shappley, the head of Meta’s Austin office. “We’re committed to Austin and look forward to growing here together.”

Other Silicon Valley companies have fled California’s high taxes and burdensome regulations, moving to states such as Texas, Florida, Utah and Colorado instead. Last year, Tesla and Samsung announced they would be moving to Austin in the near future.
