EXPERT: Hunter Biden will likely land 'generous' plea deal that will allow him to admit minor tax and gun charges
One expert, however, noted that it was surprising that the case was closed even though President Joe Biden never testified before a grand jury

A former Justice Department official believes the president's son has reached a "generous" plea agreement that will require his admission to only minor charges.
Former chief of the DOJ's Organized Crime Section, Jim Trusty, said he believes it is unlikely that Hunter will face any charges involving the investigation into alleged money laundering and violation of lobbying laws for his overseas business dealings, where some claim Hunter might have used his father's influence.
Instead, Trusty suggests that Hunter could be charged with minor tax charges and for making false statements from when he bought a handgun in 2018, according to the Daily Mail.
“From the reporting that I have read, it seems more like a generous guilty plea is on the horizon, not some sort of sweeping indictment,” said Trusty, according to the New York Post.
Meanwhile, George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley said he was worried “that key witnesses, including President Biden, have not been called” to testify before the grand jury, the Daily Mail report indicated.
“It is not clear how the prosecutors would eliminate conspiracy charges or a wider array of wrongdoing without speaking to such key players,” he added.
While Hunter’s federal investigation might be coming to an end, according to legal experts and reports, investigators were reportedly at a key point where they were deliberating on potential charges, while prosecutors were facing Justice Department guidelines that prescribe generally avoiding filing politically sensitive cases close to an election, CNN reported.
Trusty and other legal experts also dismissed the idea that officials may be worried about pressing charges because of the impending midterm elections, in which Democratic control of the House and Senate is at stake.
Trusty told Fox News he thinks authorities “are coming up with the right timing for a soft plea for Hunter Biden to have very little consequences.”
The former Justice Dept. lawyer also added that it was very disturbing that reports indicate “federal officials were really fretting over whether his drug addiction [Hunter Biden] was a defense in these cases” when according to Trusty, it is “ludicrous” that drug addiction could be used as a defense in economic crimes
