Elon Musk fires back at Elizabeth Warren: 'Please don’t call the manager on me, Senator Karen'

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, sparred with Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) Tuesday on Twitter, calling her "Senator Karen," saying: "You remind me of when I was a kid and my friend’s angry Mom would just randomly yell at everyone for no reason."

The first person to have a net worth of more than $300 billion, Musk was named Time magazine's 2021 "Person of the Year." 

Warren, a 2020 Democratic presidential primary candidate, on Monday tweeted, "Let’s change the rigged tax code so The Person of the Year will actually pay taxes and stop freeloading off everyone else," with a link to an article about Musk's person of the year achievement.

Musk responded: "And if you opened your eyes for 2 seconds, you would realize I will pay more taxes than any American in history this year… Don’t spend it all at once … oh wait you did already."

"Stop projecting!" Musk wrote, including a link to a 2019 Fox News opinion piece, "Elizabeth Warren is a fraud -- Her lies about being Native American disqualify her from presidency, Senate." 

He followed up: "You remind me of when I was a kid and my friend’s angry Mom would just randomly yell at everyone for no reason… Please don’t call the manager on me, Senator Karen." 

"Karen" is defined by Dictionary.com as "pejorative slang term for an obnoxious, angry, entitled, and often racist middle-aged white woman who uses her privilege to get her way or police other people’s behaviors."

The DC Patriot on Wednesday tweeted a video of Warren getting off of a small jet, with the caption, "This is the person talking about Elon Musk paying his fair share of taxes as she and her Entourage deplane from their private jet while sticking up for the little guy… Elon’s paying $15 billion in taxes, Lizzy paid $5k on her $12 million.."

Musk commented a series of tweets on the video: "interesting... What a hypocrite!... Explain yourself." 

When one user pointed out how Warren hid behind staff when she saw someone was recording, Musk replied: "Sneaky, but ineffective, like the rest of what she does."

Warren introduced a wealth tax in March that would create a 2% tax on Americans with a net worth between $50 million and $1 billion and a 3% tax on the net worth of those worth more.

While Warren does have a net worth of $12 million, her 2018 tax returns show she and her husband paid more than $200,000 in taxes after making about $900,000.

Not the Bee, an offshoot of the conservative parody site The Babylon Bee, tweeted a story about Musk's interaction with Warren to which he responded, "She’s tryin call to the manager rn."

Musk has described himself as a "registered independent & politically moderate."

Last week, Musk made headlines with a statement against President Joe Biden's Build Back Plan.

"Honestly, I would just can this whole bill… Don't pass it. That's my recommendation," he said, adding that the government needs to "get out of the way and not impede progress."
