Russian troops striking military targets in Ukraine, Moscow says

The Russian Armed Forces are striking Ukrainian military targets and infrastructure, Russia’s Defense Ministry said.

"Precision weapons are degrading military infrastructure, air defense facilities, military aerodromes and aviation of the Ukrainian armed forces," the ministry said.

The Thursday morning statement came amid reports of explosions throughout Ukraine, following a Russian military incursion into Donbas.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is not ordering attacks on cities, but at military infrastructure, the ministry said.

 "Civilians are not threatened," according to Tass, the Kremlin-controlled news outlet. 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed his country, telling them to stay calm.

“We are working. The army is working," he said, according to translations. "Don't panic. We are strong. We are ready for everything. We will defeat everyone. Because we are Ukraine.”
