Pelosi’s visit marked the highest ranking U.S. delegation to come to Ukraine since the war started.

“We are visiting you to say thank you for your fight for freedom,” Pelosi said in video released by Zelenskyy. “Your fight is a fight for everyone, and so our commitment is to be there for you until the fight is done.”

The Ukrainian president embraced the show of support, which follows increased military and financial aid from the West as Russia retooled it’s strategy after weeks of unsuccessful advances.

“This shows that the United States today is a leader in strong support for Ukraine during the war against the aggression of the Russian Federation,” Zelenskyy said.

Pelosi’s visit marked the highest ranking delegation to cime to Ukraine since the war started. It followed a week after Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin visited the country.

Others joining Pelosi included House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Reps. Jason Crow, D-Colo., Jim McGovern, D-Mass., and Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y.
