President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden visited the Texas town of Uvalde on Sunday to offer their support to the families of the victims of Tuesday's shooting at Robb Elementary School, which killed 19 children and two teachers.

The presidential couple carried white roses and paid their respects before the improvised shrines of the 21 people who lost their lives at the hands of Salvador Ramos, the 18-year-old who carried out the massacre and was shot by law enforcement.

From outside the Catholic church where the mass for the deceased was being celebrated, the community shouted: "Do something." As he left the ceremony, the president responded to the crowd: "We will."

After the ceremony, the couple met with survivors and relatives of the fatalities for several hours.

"To all those affected by the horrific shooting at the elementary school in Uvalde, Texas: We mourn with you. We pray with you. We stand in solidarity with you. And we pledge to turn this grief into action," Biden said on his Twitter account after the visit.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott accompanied the presidential couple and received shouts from attendees: "We need help, Governor Abbott" and "Shame on you, Abbott!"

This would be the third presidential visit to a site of a mass shooting. A month ago, Biden traveled to Buffalo, New York, following the attack by a man who killed ten people in a supermarket in what was considered a racist massacre.
