An eighth bus carrying undocumented migrants arrived in the nation’s capital as part of Republican Gov. Greg Abbott’s plan to push back against the federal government’s lax immigration policies amid the growing crisis along the U.S.’ southern border.

Abbott announced the migrants arrival in Washington, D.C. during an interview on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum” on Tuesday and vowed to continue the effort “every single day” as the crisis along the border continues to intensify.

“We will continue the busing process every single day for the reason that I think you mentioned earlier on,” Abbott said. “And that is the Biden administration has been dumping off these migrants by the hundreds in local communities that do not have the ability to take care or deal with.”

Texas first started bussing migrants to Washington, D.C. on April 8 after Abbott instructed Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) officials to transport migrants released by federal authorities in the Lone Star State to the district in a move described by the White House as a “publicity stunt,” Fox News reported.

The first two busses arrived in Washington, D.C. last Wednesday and Thursday carrying migrants from Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.

“As the federal government continues to turn a blind eye to the border crisis, the State of Texas will remain steadfast in our efforts to fill in the gaps and keep Texans safe,” Abbott said in a statement.

“By transporting migrants to Washington, D.C., the Biden Administration will be able to more immediately meet the needs of the people they are allowing to cross our border. Texas should not have to bear the burden of the Biden Administration’s failure to secure our border,” he added.

As the crisis along the U.S.-Mexico border has continued to intensify in recent months, Abbott has said that he will work to shift the burden from small communities in the Lone Star State to Washington, D.C. where many Democratic lawmakers presently reside.

“These migrants are being dropped off – and as opposed to them being there in these small communities or the small communities having to spend money dealing with it, we decided to bus them to Washington, D.C.,” he said.

Abbott also noted that his administration is considering sending undocumented to other locations around the United States, including Biden’s home state of Delaware.

“People in Delaware are going to see what the people in Texas are having to grapple with,” he added.
