“Republicans have a real chance to win this district for the first time ever and flip a Democrat-held seat,” said pollster Chris Perkins, as reported by Politico.
The data also revealed that voters across the historically blue border region are done with President Joe Biden, with 55% of voters disapproving of his presidency and 41% approving. Furthermore, the poll showed that Republicans are presently leading Democrats by three percentage points in a generic ballot.
Although the 34th congressional district has been a Democratic stronghold since it was created in 2012, Flores’ run has brought hope to Republicans who hope to win big in the upcoming midterms.
“South Texas is very conservative. We are all about God, family, and country. We’re very hardworking,” Flores told Breitbart News. “Our values align with the Republican Party. But you know, for so long, it’s the lack of education. A lot of people don’t know what the Republican Party stands for.”
