Texas Governor Greg Abbott slammed New York City Mayor Eric Adams' plan to provide migrants with pre-paid credit cards, condemning the proposal as “insanity,” “ reprehensible,” and “offensive.”

The plan was unveiled recently, revealing that migrants staying in one of the city's hotels would receive pre-paid cards for purchasing food and baby supplies, instead of the city providing meals that many migrants did not want.

Adams estimated that the $53 million program would save the city $600,000 per month, amounting to $7.2 million annually. This decision has sparked outrage across the country, even drawing criticism from native New Yorkers like rapper 50 Cent.

In an Instagram update, the rapper went to the extent of suggesting that this policy might serve as a motivation for him to cast his vote in favor of former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

Abbott expressed his disapproval during an interview with Fox Business, stating, “It sounds like insanity is behind it because it really is offensive, it may be the most reprehensible thing that I've seen take place over the past 48 hours.”

He also pointed out that this program was announced shortly after a video emerged showing migrants assaulting a police officer near Times Square, with some of them being released back onto the streets without bail.

Abbott went on to emphasize that the situation in New York is deeply concerning and has sparked anger across the nation, not just because of what's happening in New York, but also because of the underlying issue: Biden's handling of the border.

During the past year, Abbott has sent busloads of migrants who crossed the southern border into Texas to New York City on multiple occasions.
