The Supreme Court will hear arguments Monday on challenges to the Texas law that bans most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.

The court's nine justices will hear oral arguments in two cases on whether abortion providers or the Justice Department can mount federal court challenges to the law, according to the Associated Press.

Defenders of the recently enacted law argue its enforcement mechanism shields it from federal court review.

Listen here to the oral arguments.

In neither case is the right to an abortion directly at issue, the wire service also reports. But the law conflicts with landmark Supreme Court rulings that prevent a state from banning abortion early in pregnancy, the lawsuits argue.
