A migrant nearly lost her life after becoming trapped inside a duffel bag inside a burning van.

A video shared Wednesday on Facebook by the Texas Department of Public Safety shows the dramatic moment when state patrolmen and border agents rescued the victim.

The Department of Homeland Security (DPS) indicated that the incident occurred last week when the driver of the vehicle crashed while being pursued by authorities.

The chase began in Webb County and ended in La Salle County, extending along Interstate 35 in South Texas, according to the agency.

After the accident, the driver ran out of the vehicle abandoning the migrant, who could not get out on her own. The DPS claimed that the man was captured a short distance away.

"DPS Sergeant Genaro Hinojosa responded quickly and was able to break the rear window as the vehicle became engulfed in flames rescuing the immigrant woman who was trapped inside a duffel bag," the Facebook post reads.

Authorities did not provide further details of the incident or the migrant, but the case remains under investigation for human smuggling.
