Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is mad as hell and he’s not going to take it anymore. At least that’s the impression the Lonestar governor gave this week in an interview with the New York Post, telling the Manhattan scribe that the migration crisis at the border has gotten completely out of control.
The governor reportedly told the Post on Thursday that, “All that Biden has done is lie about what’s going on at the border,” adding that, “all they ever say, whether it be Biden, [Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro] Mayorkas or [White House Press Secretary] Karine Jean-Pierre, is the border is closed. It’s insane.”
The Post reported the conversation with the Texas governor Thursday evening, also adding that Abbott expressed frustration that more than 2,000 migrants a day were crossing into El Paso, and that the crisis has forced the city to start bussing them out of the area.
That strategy has raised the ire of Democratic political leaders in other jurisdictions including mayors in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York along with California Gov. Gavin Newsom who has lashed out against Abbott and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Despite their frustration, those Democratic leaders have continued to permit Texas to charter buses from the southwest border to sanctuary cities across America.
This week El Paso re-started its own charter program with FEMA funds, all part of a desperate attempt to curb the influx of migrants crossing the border to seek asylum.
“We’re looking at least 2,000 [migrants] coming forward every day,” Mayor Oscar Leeser said Monday during an El Paso city council meeting.
El Paso has reported they currently have more than 7,500 migrants in CBP custody and have been releasing on average about 1,200 a day.
Since last Friday, the city has sent 24 buses from the border and relocated 1,057 people, the New York Post reported.
According to Abbott, the Biden administration is incompetent when it comes to enforcement immigration laws and policy.
“They truly are clueless about what’s going on and what causes the problems at the border. Three years ago we had the lowest border crossings in 40 years because of four policies: Remain in Mexico, Title 42, ending Catch and Release and building the border wall,” the Lonestar governor insisted. “Biden came into office and eliminated all four of those.”
Despite these stunning statistics, El Paso is no longer the busiest border crossing point in the nation. It has been surpassed Laredo, Tucson and Eagle Pass and in Texas, according to Customs and Border Protection statistics.
