A massive snowstorm has left Texas drivers trapped in their cars for more than ten hours as freezing temperatures and icy road conditions along Interstate-10 has brought traffic outside San Antonio to a standstill.
According to a Fox 29 report, the massive delays began after accidents occurred late Thursday and early Friday morning in Kerrville.
"Travel is still dangerous. Interstate 10 has seen some very bad situations and should be avoided," the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook. "An 18-wheeler is jackknifed near mile marker 504 westbound, blocking travel. We are working with TXDOT and other law enforcement partners to manage the scene."
The sheriff’s office also reported that the temperature at headquarters has hovered around 21 degrees and thus frozen roads are expected to continue to be an issue.
"Temperatures will be back into the teens tonight. No additional moisture is expected. Roads are still glazed. Like a doughnut," it noted.
But even if new snow or rain doesn’t fall, KENS 5 reported that slush that builds up along the roads is in danger of becoming ice.
