Earlier this month, Border Patrol agents arrested two previously deported child sex offenders after they attempted to illegally re-enter Texas.

According to a report from Breitbart, one of the migrants, 42-year-old Humberto Alvarez-Peralta of Mexico, was arrested on April 13 after illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border into Texas.

After he was apprehended, a biometric background check revealed the man had previously been convicted for sexually assaulting a child by a Texas court in 1997.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection report also showed that Alvarez-Peralta has been deported a total of ten times in the last two years, with the most recent deportation having occurred just last month.

A day after Alvarez-Peralta was apprehended, Comstock Station agents arrested a 63-year-old Mexican man named Hipolito Hernandez-Acosta after he illegally entered the United States on April 14. After a background check was run, officials found that the man was previously convicted of statutory rape by a court in Georgia in 1995.

Court and immigration records further showed that Hernandez-Acosta has amassed a lengthy criminal record and has been deported at least three times, the last time being in March 2022.

Although the arrests are indeed shocking, border officials regularly report the arrest of undocumented migrants who have previously been convicted of sexual crimes against children in the United States. Often they are deported but return through the broken border.

“Since the beginning of Fiscal Year 2022, Oct. 1, through February 28, Del Rio Sector has arrested 19 convicted sex offenders,” Del Rio Sector officials stated. “As convicted felons with prior removals, both subjects face a charge of 8 USC § 1326 – Re-entry After Deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.”
