Authorities informed that Amazon's Texas facility was temporarily closed due to the presence of bed bugs, FOX 5 reported Thursday.

Officials of the renowned U.S. e-commerce company confirmed that the closure of the Amarillo facility was effective immediately upon detection of the infestation.

"We have temporarily closed our Amarillo, TX site after identifying the presence of bed bugs in the building," said Sam Stephenson, an Amazon spokesman.

Officials also said they will not be shipping during the shutdown, nor will customer orders be processed at the site.

"All employees are being paid while the site is closed and customer orders are being handled by other sites in the area," Stephenson added.

All products in the facility's current inventory will be recycled or returned to suppliers for proper inspection.
