In an act of barbarism that shocked Russia and the entire world, the terrorist group Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the atrocious attack carried out at a concert hall in Krasnogorsk, a suburb of Moscow.

The attack, which has left at least 133 dead and more than 140 injured, according to Russian security services, has proven to be one of the deadliest attacks in the Russian capital in the last two decades.

Eleven people have been arrested in connection with the incident. Four of them were directly involved in the attack, the head of the security forces informed the Russian president on Saturday.

According to the state press agency, TASS, the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation believes the number of fatalities will continue to rise.

According to Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, 115 people were being treated in medical centers, and 60 remained in critical condition.

Murashko also confirmed that five of the injured were children.

Through a brief but chilling statement released by its propaganda organ, Amaq, the Islamic State has assumed responsibility for this act of terror, stating that its “fighters attacked a large group of Christians” in the concert hall before “withdraw to their bases safely.”

The scenes that took place at the scene of the attack are of indescribable brutality.

According to reports from Russian authorities, a group of terrorists armed with assault rifles broke into the concert hall just before the performance of the popular rock group Piknik, unleashing a bloodbath that has left the entire nation in turmoil, pain and indignation.

At these critical moments, the Russian National Guard (Rosgvardia) has deployed all its resources in an intense search and capture operation for those responsible for this massacre, who, according to reports, managed to flee the scene after wreaking chaos and destruction.

The newspaper Rossiskaya Gazeta stated that the Ministry of Health of the Moscow region (oblast) published on its website a list of 145 victims, including dead and injured, the latter taken to hospitals in the towns of Krasnogorsk, Khimki, Dolgoprudny and Odintsovo.

Recent reports indicate that nine people are in extremely serious condition.

This attack comes just a day after the Islamic State claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing in southern Afghanistan, which left at least 23 dead and 60 injured.
