EARTHQUAKE: 6.7 magnitude stuns Nicaraguan coast
Nicaraguan Vice President Rosario Murillo said officials were monitoring the region for any damage reports

A 6.7 magnitude earthquake hit the western coast of Nicaragua, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The earthquake hit at around 1:42 a.m. local time on Thursday with an epicenter about 38 miles (61 km) from the coast of Masachapa, southwest of Managua, with a depth of 15.7 miles (25.3 km), according to USGS.

No tsunami threat was reported after the earthquake, the U.S. tsunami warning system said.
Nicaraguan Vice President Rosario Murillo said officials were monitoring the region for any damage reports.
While there have been no reports of damage in the Central American country, local residents reported that they did feel the tremors.
Tremors from the earthquake were also felt in neighboring El Salvador and Costa Rica.
