A man wearing a gas mask and an orange operator's vest may have thrown a can of smoke onto the subway platform to distract people, police and security officials told NBC News.
Police recovered a Glock pistol and several high-capacity magazines at the station. The weapon was apparently jammed, which may have prevented the attacker from causing even greater damage, reported EFE news agency quoted by El Pais.
The suspect remains at large, an NYPD spokesman told Fox News.
