On Tuesday, a federal jury in New York City found former President Donald Trump not liable for rape but liable for sexual abuse and defamation. The verdict resulted in a $5 million payment order against the ex-president.

Trump called the jury's decision to find him responsible for battery and defamation in 1996 a "disgrace." In a brief message on his social network, Truth Social, he wrote in all caps, "I have absolutely no idea who this woman is. This verdict is a disgrace, a continuation of the greatest witch hunt of all time."

The former president has stated that he will appeal the verdict in the E. Jean Carroll civil case, according to Fox News Digital.

"We'll appeal. We got treated very badly by the Clinton-appointed judge," Trump said to Fox. "And [Carroll] is a Clinton person, too."

He added, "I have no idea who this woman is."

After a civil trial, a federal jury commenced deliberations on Tuesday in which writer E. Jean Carroll accused former President Donald Trump of allegedly raping her in a department store dressing room in the 1990s and subsequently damaging her reputation when she made her account public in 2019.

The jury found Trump guilty of battery and defamation, but not of rape. The judge warned against outbursts during the verdict, and Carroll remained stoic.

The jury was advised not to disclose their vote in the trial.

Trump currently has a judgment against him Carroll for nearly $5 million, with $2 million for the "damages" caused by his alleged assault and $2.7 million for damage to her reputation.

However, that judgment may be stayed or frozen if the former president files an appeal.

The case is civil, so there is no jail sentence.

Trump denies knowing Carroll and has called her a liar and mentally ill, but the jury disagreed. Trump's campaign team blamed the verdict on left-wing politics.
