Former President Donald Trump arrived in New York City on Monday evening to appear in a Manhattan court the next day, according to his campaign.
Trump left his private residence in Florida on his private plane on Monday, landing at La Guardia airport shortly before 4 p.m. and then heading to the Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan in a motorcade.
Trump will stay at the penthouse Fifth Avenue Building overnight to prepare to be processed for his criminal indictment that was announced last week, according to the travel plans released by his team on Sunday night.
On Tuesday at around 2:15 p.m. the former president will be arraigned, fingerprinted, and photographed at the Manhattan Criminal Court. After being processed, he is expected to fly back to his estate to his home in Palm Beach, where he will remain for the rest of the week.
Trump is expected to surrender after being indicted over allegedly paying hush money to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to cover up an affair between the two during the 2016 presidential campaign. Trump denies having had any such relationship with the actress.
The exact charges are still unknown. However, according to two sources familiar with the matter, he will face multiple charges of falsifying records and at least one felony offense.
Trump is seeking reelection in the 2024 presidential elections. He is expected to deliver remarks on Tuesday night at an event in his Palm Beach residence, according to the Associated Press. The only other major event on his calendar is a speech at the National Rifle Association conference in Indianapolis in mid-April.
Following the news of the indictment, his campaign announced that it had raised more than $4 million in 24 hours, noting that “25% of donations came from first-time donors.”
Law enforcement in Manhattan prepared for potential unrest during the arraignment of the former president, adding extra security and blocking off streets around the courthouse in Lower Manhattan.
