Positive SARS-CoV-2 cases are on a modest rise in New York City and Washington, D.C., with multiple high-profile infections occurring as health officials scramble to figure out if another wave is imminent.
Cases have risen by about 60% in New York City since the end of last month, according to the New York Times’s database. In Washington the number of cases has doubled during the same time frame.
Case rates are also experiencing a rise in other localities throughout the country including Vermont, Colorado and Rhode Island.
The overall case rate throughout the United States has been flat since about mid-March, while total case rates across the globe have been on a sharp downward trend.
Multiple celebrities have tested positive for the virus in New York in the latest mini-spike, meanwhile, including actress Sarah Jessica Parker and actor Daniel Craig.
