A Bronx man that fatally beat his partner with a hammer told police it felt “like a dream” to do it after years of abuse, authorities reported on Monday.

On Saturday afternoon, police received a phone call from Felix Perez, 49, reporting that he had attacked his partner, Andres Huertas, 37, with a weapon.

When police arrived at the scene in an East Bronx apartment on Wallace Avenue at around 12:45 p.m., they found Huertas alone and unconscious. He was covered with bruises and deep cuts on his head and face. H

Huertas succumbed to his injuries just before 3 p.m.

Perez was found 15 minutes later at the Prospect Avenue subway stop in emotional distress. He told responders that he wanted to kill himself. Perez was taken to Lincoln Hospital.

After searching the apartment, investigators found a bloody hammer inside the bathroom of the apartment, which they believe is the murder weapon. Forensic tests are being conducted to confirm whether it was the murder weapon.

According to the police, Perez said he attacked Huertas after enduring years of abuse. He also said it felt “like a dream” to finally do it.

The suspect also allegedly texted his partner’s mom after he killed him, saying he did “something horrible.”

Neighbors told the police that the couple fought constantly, but she didn’t hear anything on the day of the killing.

“Maybe every other month,” neighbor Crystal Rivera said on Sunday. “At one point [it] started to get really, really bad. I think they got into a really bad dispute. Looked like the [partner] was miserable.”

Perez was charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.
