Five buses transporting undocumented migrants arrived in New York City on Tuesday as the city struggles to house the large influx of new arrivals sent from Texas.

The first migrant bus arrived at around 6 a.m., followed by four more until 12:25 p.m. Four more buses with undocumented migrants arrived from Texas on Monday between 5:50 a.m. and 6:21 a.m.

New York City has welcomed more than 10,000 migrants who were bused from Texas to the Big Apple since April. However, the large influx of arrivals has left city officials scrambling to provide for them and find a place to house them.

Last week, New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced plans to set up large tents to operate as intake centers and housing for the hundreds of migrants that are arriving in the city each day.

Construction for the so-called “tent city” began on Monday with workers laying out tenting equipment at Orchard Beach in the Bronx.

The “Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief Centers,” as the project is originally called, aim to provide assistance to the arriving individuals and ensure that their basic needs are covered. Migrants are expected to spend between one and four days in the facility.
