Delaware voters grow tired of Biden as gas prices hit new highs

In recent weeks, Democratic lawmakers have attempted to shift blame about rising prices, instead pointing at “rising crude oil prices and concern about less Russian oil entering the global market"

Gas prices in President Joe Biden’s home state of Delaware have reached an “all-time high,” adding to inflationary headaches for the White House as the Democratic leader struggles to raise his historically low approval ratings.

According to a an ABC 6 report, gas prices in Democratic-run Pennsylvania and New Jersey are also experiencing unprecedented rises in gas prices.

“It’s $4.64 a record gallon in Philadelphia, 14 cents above the statewide average,” the outlet reported. “It’s $4.50 in Pennsylvania, $4.47 in New Jersey and $4.40 in Delaware.”

The report also found that drivers are paying $4.32 per gallon on average nationally for unleaded fuel – a full $1.36 more than what was being charged at the pump one year ago. The national average for diesel also set a national record, hitting $5.54 per gallon.

In recent weeks, Democratic lawmakers have attempted to shift blame about rising prices, instead pointing at “rising crude oil prices and concern about less Russian oil entering the global market.”

Nevertheless, a Breitbart report found that:

“Despite their claims, survey after survey show Americans blame Democrats and Biden for high gas prices and rampant inflation. Under Biden’s leadership thus far, gas prices have reached record-high levels, inflation hit a 40-year high, and the U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) shrunk 1.4 percent in the first quarter of 2022.”

This has translated into historically low approval ratings for President Biden – even in his home state.

According to data from an April 26 Tuesday Morning Consult poll, Biden’s approval rating in his home state is only 50% -- dropping from 62% at a similar period last year. Similarly, 45% of Delaware voters appear to disapprove of the president, up from 32% last year.

To paint a clearer picture, the data shows that Biden’s net approval rating is only +4 in Delaware – a noticeable drop from the near +30 rating he enjoyed last year.

Currently, Delaware is one of only ten states – including Vermont, California, Washington, New York, and Maryland --where Biden’s approval rating has not hit rock bottom.

In 33 states, however, things don’t look good for the president or his party as they prepare for this year’s midterm elections – especially in “conservative enclaves such as West Virginia and Wyoming, to battlegrounds that were pivotal to his 2020 victory, such as Arizona, Pennsylvania and Georgia,” the poll noted.

The president’s approval rating has dropped by more than 20 percentage points in all Senate and most Congressional battleground states. In Colorado, where Biden won in 2020 by some 14 points, for example, Biden’s net approval rating stands at -2 (47-49%).

Biden’s poll numbers could mean bad news for Democrats as they prepare to defend the House and Senate from Republican control in November.
