A video circulating on social media shows a group of Mexican soldiers being subdued by armed men, allegedly members of a criminal organization, local media reported on Wednesday.

The incident may have occurred in the municipality of Mazatlan, in the Mexican state of Sinaloa, while members of the armed forces were patrolling in the community of La Noria and discovered suspected members of the Sinaloa Cartel, reported 24 Horas.

During the operation, eight alleged criminals were detained and will be handed over to the corresponding authorities. However, a group of soldiers who stayed behind to guard the area were ambushed, disarmed and subdued by the alleged criminals.

"Hey you, bastards, mot.. fuc., sons of bi...; you ain't that good fu..."can be heard in the video, condemned and disseminated by the Twitter account @CODIGO_NEGROMX.

The Mexican Ministry of National Defense has not commented on the video after it was released, according to El Universal.

The Secretary of Public Security of Sinaloa, Cristóbal Castañeda Camarillo, ruled out that the images disclosed correspond to an area in that state and affirmed that they are not members of the Mexican Army, since the boots and clothing of the individuals in the video do not correspond to those used by the military corps, according to the aforementioned media.

The Mexican Armed Forces often carry out operations in Sinaloa, the decades-old headquarters of the cartel headed by drug trafficker Ismael 'Mayo' Zambada.

Since 2013, Rafael Caro Quintero, the former leader of the powerful Guadalajara Cartel, has been out of prison and is speculated to be operating in the northern Mexican state as well.
