Two women and a pregnant teenager were murdered in separate incidents in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, confirmed the State Investigation Agency.
On Saturday, América Lizbeth, 17, was murdered by a gunshot to the head while she was in her home in Puerto Escondido. After being examined, it was determined that she was three months pregnant.
The minor was allegedly shot while she was sleeping, according to local media. Her partner, a 22-year-old man, was taken to the Public Prosecutor's Office, accused of the crime.
Hours earlier, Nancy Adriana, 44, was the victim of a shooting outside her home in the city of Oaxaca. In this incident, a pair of individuals riding a motorcycle attacked her, according to reports from the State Investigation Agency.
The woman died due to the severity of her injuries in a hospital emergency room.
Additionally, another 30-year-old woman was shot and killed in the town of San Pedro Atoyac. Initial reports state that she was apparently looking for firewood when she was hit by a bullet and lost her life immediately.
As of April, 36 women had been murdered in Oaxaca throughout 2022. This represents 41% of the total number of femicides that occurred during 2021 in the same state, recently condemned by the Rosario Castellanos Women's Studies Group (GES Mujer).
The organization also claimed that in states such as Oaxaca, conditions of insecurity prevail, including the lack of application of protocols for the location of missing girls and women, machismo and misogyny in relationships, as well as in the authorities responsible for preventing and attending to gender violence, and impunity in femicides.
