Family of 8 murdered in Mexican home, 4 children dead

All were allegedly killed with a firearm, according to the Mexico State Prosecutor's Office

Eight individuals believed to be members of a family, were murdered on Monday in their home in Mexico's municipality of Tultepec.

The state prosecutor's office initiated an investigation and claimed that seven victims died at the scene and another died in the hospital. Four were minors, and six were women.

Initial reports indicated that at least three women were found dead in the house, the body of a man and three minors (two girls and a boy). All were reportedly killed with a firearm, while an eighth woman was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

Neighbors heard gunshots and alerted the authorities and emergency services who quickly arrived on the scene, according to testimonies quoted by Milenio and El Universal.

In the municipality of Ixtapaluca, also in the State of Mexico, three other people died on Monday during an armed attack in a bar.

Several shooters fired directly at those who were in the bar. Three people died, and their bodies were left inside, while four others were shot and wounded, reports La Jornada.

The State of Mexico has some of the highest levels of crime in the country. According to data from the Executive Secretariat of the State Public Security System, 62,129 crimes of various kinds have been registered in the state during 2022. As for homicides, 274 were registered in the month of February, 29 less compared to 2021, reported Infobae.
