Seven people, including a minor, were murdered in the municipality of Marqués de Comillas, in the Mexican state of Chiapas. The bodies were found on Saturday by residents on the highway between the Emiliano Zapata and Nuevo Paraíso ejidos, according to the State Attorney General's Office.

The bodies were dumped in the undergrowth, some were semi-naked, with signs of torture, and all were shot, reported Milenio.

Local media quoted by Infobae reported that Luisa 'N', who introduced herself as the wife of one of the victims and identified the bodies, was also found at the site.

So far, the motive for the multiple homicides is unknown. However, it is speculated that a criminal gang committed the executions.

The area where they were found borders Guatemala, where violence is reportedly on the rise due to clashes between local criminal groups, according to Infobae.

Recently, in the municipality of Chicomuselo, there was a confrontation between members of the Mexican Army and armed civilians, which left two alleged hired killers dead and ten soldiers wounded.

The shooters belonged to a local criminal group and fled after one of the military units rolled over a ravine.

On May 9, four bodies were also found on the border of the municipalities of Chiapa de Corzo and Suchiapa, apparently dismembered and inside garbage bags. At that time, authorities reported that prior to the discovery, gunshots were reported.
