At least 12 people injured after strong turbulence on Qatar Airways flight

Six passengers and six crew members were injured in the incident, when flight QR017, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, was flying over Turkey

Twelve people were injured this Sunday after a Qatar Airways plane flying from Doha to Dublin suffered severe turbulence, authorities confirmed.

Six passengers and six crew members were injured in the incident, when flight QR017, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, was flying over Turkey, Dublin Airport said in a statement.

Following the incident, the plane continued its journey and landed normally in Dublin shortly before 1pm local time, where it was met by emergency services including Airport Police and the Fire and Rescue Department. Of the 12 injured, eight were hospitalized.

In a statement to CNN, Qatar Airways said: “The matter is now subject to an internal investigation. The safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority.”

This new incident comes less than a week after one passenger died and 30 were injured after a Singapore Airlines flight from London suffered severe turbulence, forcing it to make an emergency landing in Bangkok, capital of Singapore. Thailand.

The identity of the passenger killed on that flight was not revealed, but local authorities said he was a British man who possibly suffered a heart attack. In addition, 18 people were hospitalized and 12 were treated at different medical centers.
