A horrifying video shared on social media on Thursday shows the moment a sinkhole opens up in a swimming pool, sucking in all of the water and one man.

A group of people was cooling off enjoying a swimming pool at a home in Kermei Yosef, on the outskirts of Tel Aviv on Thursday. They never expected what happened next.

Suddenly, a sinkhole appears in the middle of the in-ground swimming pool, sucking in all of the water and inflatable toys within seconds as people quickly try to get to safety.

“The water level suddenly started receding and a hole opened up, creating a vortex that swept two people inside,” a witness told the Times of Israel.

The body of Klil Khimhi, 32, was discovered hours later at the bottom of the 43-foot deep hole by first responders, officials reported.

The other man that was swept in managed to climb out of the sinkhole, sustaining only minor injuries.

Authorities are investigating the incident. The couple who owns the property was arrested for negligent manslaughter because they didn’t have a permit to build a pool. However, Natan and Rachel Meller were released on house arrest.

“They could have prevented this outcome if they had gotten a permit,” said Sgt. Rami Desta at a hearing on Friday, according to the Israeli news site Ynet.
