One person was injured on Friday night at a fairground north of Miami after being trapped for 15 minutes in an amusement park ride.

The injured machine operator, identified as Davontai Lee, 28, underwent tense moments when he got trapped between two pieces of the Hydra Rideen floor at a fairground in Clay County.

Sheriff's Office officials explained that Lee tried to do a good deed as the ride started again, reports Action News Jax.

When the machine was about to stop, the operator tried to retrieve a hat that someone had lost during the trip. Moments later, the machine caught him by the stomach.

"As I was about to grab the hat, [the ride] pushed me by the stomach and held me down. I was so scared. I thought I was going to die," Lee recounted according to the aforementioned television station.

Authorities arrived on the scene, and once they managed to free him, the operator was rushed to the hospital with multiple bruises and marks on his stomach, back, and arms, reports Telemundo 51.

After he was saved, the machine continued to operate normally, and no further incidents were reported.
