A woman who was denied boarding a plane drowned her dog in a Orlando International Airport bathroom and then hopped on her international flight.

The Associated Press reported that a paperwork issue had prevented her from bringing the 9-year-old white miniature schnauzer with her on the plane.

Authorities began investigating the death of the dog in December after a janitor discovered the dog in a trash bag in a bathroom stall at the airport.

“This act was intentional and resulted in a cruel and unnecessary death of the animal,” the Orlando Police Department said.

Police arrested the woman Lake County on Wednesday for aggravated animal abuse, which is a third-degree felony. The AP reported that she was released on a $5,000 bail.
