A family from Homestead, Florida, has lived with unanswered questions for 40 years since their daughter, Maribel Oquendo, disappeared at the age of nine when she left home to buy candy.
Maribel Oquendo was last seen in December 1982 when she was going to a store near her home with 75 cents in her hand. The sister of the lost girl, Claribel Oquendo, said at the time that they searched everywhere for her, but no one knew anything about her whereabouts.
According to Claribel, when they went to the store where she was supposed to buy candy, the owner said the girl went in, bought $5 worth of candy, and then left. Outside the premises, a car was waiting, and Maribel supposedly got into the vehicle, where there were three men.
Although 40 years have passed, the family still does not have the answers to the following questions: Where is she? Is she safe and sound? And if she is, who is she staying with?
The family continues to wait for any lead on Maribel's whereabouts and ask citizens to provide any information that may help solve this case.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has taken over the investigation and is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the location of Maribel Oquendo Carrero or to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individual responsible for her disappearance.
