Donald Trump’s presidential campaign on Wednesday said it raised over $6.6 million in fundraising since the indictment against the former president was announced last Thursday.

The Trump campaign said they raised $4.5 million from grassroots digital fundraising and an additional $2.1 million on Tuesday evening during Trump’s first major fundraiser since he announced his 2024 presidential candidacy.

The candle-light fundraiser with top donors was held at Bedminster, New Jersey at Trump’s golf club on Tuesday, hours after he was arraigned at a federal court in Miami, Florida.

Trump is facing 37 felony charges regarding classified national records that were removed from the White House and kept at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach after he ended his term in office. The former president pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges.

The fundraiser was planned long before the former president was indicted and arraigned, the campaign told Fox News.

Most of Trump’s fundraising comes from grassroots contributions, however, the event at Bedminster matched the goal set by the campaign, signaling that he can still rely on deep-pocket supporters for his campaign. Trump plans to have at least 300 major contributors on board his campaign by the end of June.

Donors who attended the Trump fundraiser paid at least $1,000 to attend the event, which was also meant to celebrate the former president’s 77th birthday. High-tier donors received exclusive benefits, such as private dinners with Trump.

Around 90 percent of the money raised at the event will go directly to the Trump 2024 campaign, while the remaining 10 percent will go to Trump’s Save America PAC, which covers non-campaign-related expenses.

Trump is currently the front-runner in the latest 2024 GOP presidential nomination polls, followed closely behind is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
