TRAGEDY: Florida woman cleaning gun allegedly accidentally killed young boy in her family
Police say the firearm was accidentally discharged due to negligence and mishandling.

A preliminary investigation by Pembroke Pines Police revealed that a woman was cleaning a firearm inside her home when it discharged, striking a teenage boy, according to NBC6.
The boy was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital, where police say he passed away despite efforts to save his life.
The woman and teen are family members, according to police. The victim's age was not released.

At 6:29 p.m. Saturday, Pembroke Pines police dispatched several officers to the Coconut Reef community after receiving reports of gunshots in the area near 180th Avenue and SW 12th Street.
Upon arrival, officials discovered a teenager shot and wounded, according to the police report. The victim's name was not released.
According to the report, all parties involved in this incident are cooperating with detectives.
