Police have arrested a suspect in the South Florida Baby June case. The investigation stems from an incident that occurred four and a half years ago on June 1, 2018 when an unidentified infant was found floating in the Boynton Beach inlet.

Detectives for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office suspect the baby might have drifted north into Palm Beach County from Broward County, which is located just south.

Baby June was discovered by an off-duty Boynton Beach firefighter who was boating in the ocean side of the area inlet last year when he spotted the infant floating in the water.

Detectives assessed the baby girl as being between only 4-7 days old, and that she had drifted in the ocean for at least six, but as many as 18 hours before being discovered by the firefighter. The incident was quickly classified as a homicide and became an investigation followed by the nation.

Police suspect the infant’s mother gave birth in a nearby hospital close to Memorial Day 2018, and determined from genetic testing that the baby’s ancestry is most likely 50 percent Central Asian and 50 percent African.

Investigators have been hunting suspects with nationalities from Barbados, Trinidad or Jamaica, and Palm Beach County has offered a reward up to $10,000 for information.
