Sen. Rick Scott urges Biden to resign, claims president is 'incoherent, incapacitated and confused'

Florida’s Republican Sen. Rick Scott called on President Biden to resign on Tuesday, noting his belief that the Democratic leader is mentally unfit to carry out his duties as president.

"The most effective thing Joe Biden can do to solve the inflation crisis he created is resign. He’s the problem," Scott told reporters on Tuesday.

"Let’s be honest here. Joe Biden is unwell. He’s unfit for office. He’s incoherent, incapacitated and confused. He doesn’t know where he is half the time. He’s incapable of leading and he’s incapable of carrying out his duties," he added.

Although the White House has not yet responded directly to Scott’s charge, it has repeatedly denied suggestions that Biden is not mentally fit to serve in office, Fox News reported.

Scott – who serves as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) -- made his comments after Biden hammered him over a plan he released earlier this year for a GOP agenda if Republicans take the Senate majority during November’s midterm elections.

Following the document’s release, one White House official called the senator’s plan “an ultra-MAGA proposal that would raise taxes on 75 million, primarily middle-class, American families while sunsetting vital programs like Social Security and Medicare."

Similarly, Mike Gwin, the White House’s director of rapid response, told Fox News Digital that Scott’s “MAGA agenda” would  effectively “raise taxes on half of Americans and jeopardize retirement benefits like Social Security and Medicare.”

"Putting billionaires ahead of the middle class may make sense when Scott’s at Mar-a-Lago, but it’s bad news for working families. Senator Scott’s plan sounds too extreme to believe, but Americans should see it for themselves on Scott’s website – RescueAmerica.com – and compare it with the President’s plan to lower costs for working families and strengthen our middle class,” he added.

Biden on Tuesday gave remarks about how he plans to lower inflation and tackle the deficit, pushing back on Republican charges that his reckless spending and leftist economic policies (think student loan debt cancellation) is the one causing the nation’s economic woes.

"My plan is to lower everyday costs for hardworking Americans. And lower the deficit by asking large corporations and the wealthiest Americans to not engage in price gouging and to pay their fair share in taxes," Biden said.

"The Republican plan is to increase taxes on the middle class families, let billionaires and large companies off the hook as they raise profits, raise prices and reap profits at record amounts. And it's really that simple."
