A new polling analysis memo from the Never Back Down super PAC found that if the election were to be held today with Trump as the Republican nominee, the former president would lose to Biden. But, if the race was between Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Biden, DeSantis would be elected as the next president.

“If the election were held today and Trump was the Republican nominee, Trump would lose to Joe Biden, 319 Electoral College votes to 219 Electoral College votes.

Biden would receive the highest number of Electoral College votes a winner has received since then President Barack Obama defeated then former Gov. Mitt Romney in 2012. Comparatively, based on current polling, DeSantis would defeat Biden and win the White House with at least 286 Electoral College votes, or 296 if he carried the toss-up state of Wisconsin,” the polling analysis memo reads.

The Never Back Down PAC used data regarding the 2024 race from the data analytics firm WPA Intelligence, a leading provider of survey research, predictive analytics, and application-based data, to conduct the poll.

According to the analysis, DeSantis would lead in five of the six states where Trump is trailing behind: Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. DeSantis is also currently tied with Biden for the sixth one, Wisconsin.

“Biden’s best hope for reelection is the nomination of Donald Trump, the man Biden beat in 2020 and would beat again in 2024. Not only would a Trump nomination hand Biden the White House (again), it would also have catastrophic down-ballot effects on GOP candidates at all levels,” said WPA Intelligence CEO Chris Wilson.

DeSantis has not yet formally announced his 2024 campaign, despite being seen as Trump’s main rival for the Republican nomination. However, sources say that the Florida governor is planning to make the announcement sometime in the coming weeks.

The Never Back Down PAC was founded by former senior Trump administration official Ken Cuccinelli to get DeSantis to run for the upcoming elections.
