A Miami man became a millionaire after playing the Jackpot Triple Play sweepstakes, the Florida Lottery announced Monday.

The lucky winner was identified as Daniel Alvarez, 49. He claimed the $1.95 million jackpot in the game held on February 25, 2022 at the Lottery's Miami District Office.

Lottery officials claimed that Alvarez purchased his winning ticket at La Esquina Tropical restaurant, located at 1060 Southwest 8th Street in Miami.

The lucky winner asked to receive his winnings as a lump sum payment of $1,492,240.62. The restaurant will receive an additional $2,000 commission for selling the jackpot winning ticket.

The next Jackpot Triple Play drawing will take place this Tuesday at 11:15 p.m. ET, with a jackpot of $1.4 million.

"For $1, JACKPOT TRIPLE PLAY players have triple their chances of winning the jackpot, as each ticket comes with three sets of numbers that match the winning numbers drawn," said a Florida Lottery statement. "Players can choose six numbers from 1 to 46 for the first set and the second set will be chosen randomly by Quick Pick."

"Jackpots start at $250,000 and can accumulate up to $2 million, before tapering down to increase lower prize levels in each drawing until the jackpot is won," he adds.

In addition, players can have the additional opportunity to win by combining all hits on the ticket, adding the Combo for $1 more.
