Hialeah man arrested for allegedly murdering his sister and mother

The city of Hialeah was the scene of a terrible murder. A man identified as Nelson Sosa, 56, was arrested for allegedly murdering his mother and sister.

According to police, a 911 call from Sosa alerted them that the two women were dead in his home.

The terrible events took place on Friday night. When police arrived at the home in west Hialeah, they found the lifeless bodies of Sosa's mother and sister, a man with a history of mental illness.

The police report indicates that Sosa strangled his sister, Mairym Sosa, 53, and stabbed her 21 times.

The 84-year-old mother was found dead in bed, but with no apparent signs of violence. It is still unknown how she died, and forensic results are awaited to know what kind of charges will be imposed.

Family members told Telemundo 51 that the man had previously been hospitalized for his mental illness, but had returned home after apparently improving.

For now, Sosa faces a second-degree murder charge and is in jail without bail.
