Governor Ron DeSantis told Politico on Tuesday that his administration is not busing migrants from Florida to other parts of the country because Biden has stopped sending them.

DeSantis has previously proposed sending buses to Delaware, the president’s home state, after more than 70 night-time flights carrying migrants from the border covertly arrived in Florida.

“If they’re going to come here, we’ll provide buses,” DeSantis said during a press conference in November last year adding, “I will send them to Delaware.”

However, this year, DeSantis backed a $12 million proposal to take migrants sent to Florida through the federal Office of Refuge resettlement. Since the law went into effect almost two months ago, the Biden administration has stopped sending migrants to Florida, DeSantis told reporters.

“Texas is taking people,” DeSantis said after a morning Florida Cabinet meeting. “Biden has not sent anyone to us since we got that. He does send children all across the country in the middle of the night and dumps them all over the United States, which I think is very reckless.”

“We have not had buses coming in, we have had people trickle in,” DeSantis said. “I think because of what Texas has done, that has actually taken a lot of pressure off us.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbot has been sending busloads of migrants from Texas to Washington, D.C. and New York City as a way to protest against the federal immigration policies. So far, Texas has bused over 7,000 migrants to the nation’s capital and over 900 to the Big Apple.

"Because of President Biden's continued refusal to acknowledge the crisis caused by his open border policies, the State of Texas has had to take unprecedented action to keep our communities safe," Abbott said earlier this month.

“Reason they are doing New York and reason I was suggesting D.C. and Delaware and stuff is because it will potentially cause a change of policy,” DeSantis said.
