A Florida man is being accused of throwing a Christmas tree at his wife on Monday during an argument that started when she asked him to help her make dinner, authorities said.

Ricard Atchinson, 52, allegedly “lost his temper” in his Fruitland Park home when his wife asked for his help with dinner. At some point during their argument, his wife put a spoon in the sink, accidentally splashing him with water, according to an affidavit obtained by FOX 35 Orlando.

Atchinson, who “had been drinking” packed his things and went outside to his car intent on leaving the house. However, he returned home and told his wife to leave instead.

As his wife tried to leave, Atchinson allegedly shoved her, grabbed the Christmas tree in their living room, threw it at her and hit her with it. He then blocked the front door to prevent her from leaving.

Atchinson was arrested on domestic battery charges and taken to the Lake County Jail.
